Committee to Hold Hearing on Health Centers and
Care for Low-Income and Uninsured Pennsylvanians
Wednesday, April 9, 9:30 a.m.
Harrisburg – As part of the ongoing effort to make quality health care more
accessible in Pennsylvania, the Senate Public Health and Welfare Committee,
chaired by Sen. Ted Erickson (R-Delaware), will hold a public hearing Wednesday
examining the role that state-supported health centers play in providing care
for low-income and uninsured Pennsylvanians. The important role that these
clinics play in communities across the state is often underestimated.
Health centers operate at 190 sites in rural and urban areas, providing
affordable and accessible health care to more than 500,000 Pennsylvanians per
year.
The hearing will be held Wednesday, April 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. in
Room 8E-A of the Capitol.
Those testifying will include representatives of the Pennsylvania Association
of Community Health Centers, the Hospital and Healthsystem Association of
Pennsylvania, the Free Clinic Association of Pennsylvania and the National
Nursing Centers Consortium.
The committee will hold a second hearing on this topic on Tuesday, April 15,
at the Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland.
